Cuatro Groos is a nationally known expert on healthcare and healthcare policy
Cuatro was born Ernest Groos IV. From day one, the nickname “Cuatro” stuck. Originally from San Antonio, he has lived in Austin for nearly 25 years. He holds undergraduate degrees as well as an MBA and Master of Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a Certified Insurance Counselor.
Before working in the insurance industry, Cuatro worked as a reporter and later as a legislative analyst in the Texas Legislature. After receiving his MBA, he worked in the technology sector as a marketing manager and analyst.
Cuatro has been serving businesses and entrepreneurs as an insurance advisor since 2001. He specializes in employee benefits for small and mid-sized companies. Growing up in a small family business and later working in the startup world gave him a love for small business and a deep respect for the courage it takes to start and run a business.
Cuatro speaks frequently to civic and business groups on the topics of Health Care Reform and employee benefits trends. He is also a contributor for the Business Bank of Texas’ Small Business Resource Center.
Cuatro spends a significant amount of time serving his community. He is the founder and president of Trojans Pop Warner, a youth football association in Austin. He serves on the boards of Foster Angels of Central Texas, Seton Fund’s “The Fifty”, and the Northwest Austin Civic Association. Cuatro is a former board member of the Young Men’s Business League of Austin and the Austin chapter of the McComb’s MBA Alumni Network.
His family includes his wife, Alicia, an intellectual property attorney, and his three children- Carsten, Gwyneth, and Maisy. Cuatro loves coaching youth sports, tennis, golf, hunting and fishing.
